Job Description:
*DUTIES:*
The Emission Inventory Analysis Section in the Air Resources Board (ARB)
is responsible for conducting comprehensive and special analyses of
greenhouse gas emissions data and developing current and projected
statewide estimates of greenhouse gas emissions from all major sectors
of the economy. Projects include developing a comprehensive, statewide
greenhouse gas emissions inventory, tracking statewide greenhouse gas
emission reductions based on ARB adopted control measures, and
maintaining the database of greenhouse gas emission inventory. We are
looking for individuals with strong technical and analysis skills who
are interested in contributing to the ARB's greenhouse gas emission
inventory programs. This position will also be involved in reviewing and
coordinating with emission inventory methodologies for criteria and
toxic pollutants. It will include working with other state and federal
agencies and stakeholder groups, review and development of GHG
estimation methods, and developing methods for projecting future GHG
emissions based on emission reduction and planning scenarios. This
position works as part of an interdisciplinary team.
*DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:*
The most competitive candidates will be highly motivated, self-starting,
and enthusiastic and will possess the ability to interact effectively
with people at all levels of management, government and industry. They
will have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to
handle sensitive and confidential assignments with tact and diplomacy;
the ability to handle rapidly changing priorities, and the ability to
work under pressure and time constraints. Experience in emissions
estimation methods and models is desirable. The incumbent must have a
strong scientific or engineering background. The ability to analyze
data, develop solutions and present information effectively both orally
and in writing is essential. Occasional travel may be required
