*POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE AT THE INSTITUT DE PHYSIQUE DU GLOBE DE
PARIS (IPGP)*

The Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) seeks applicants for a
postdoctoral researcher position in isotope biogeochemistry. Although
different backgrounds will be considered, experiences in vacuum techniques
and stable isotopes analysis and/or in clean laboratory procedures and
multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS)
techniques is especially desirable (e.g. for N, C, S, Fe, Mo, Cr isotope
systems).

The main objective of the project is to provide a new detailed geochemical
record of the Archean rise of atmospheric oxygen that is closely tied to
detailed petrographic, mineralogical, and sedimentological work*.* At the
core of the proposed work is the analysis of a suite of selected samples
from the drill core library available at IPGP, and particularly of the
newly recovered drill cores of the 2.45 to 2.2 Ga old Turee Creek Group,
Western Australia, which span the Great Oxidation Event. The combination of
new drill cores and world-class facilities for novel isotope measurements
make IPGP ideally suited to resolve longstanding debates about Earth’s
early oxygenation.

Completion of the Ph.D. is required. Initial appointment is for one year,
renewable one time contingent upon good progress.

Applications must be received by end of December, 2014 (applications
received after this date may be considered if the position is not filled).

Appointment will start January, 2015

A resume and the names of three references should be sent to Vincent
Busigny (busigny at ipgp.fr) and Pascal Philippot (philippot at ipgp.fr).
