*PhD and Post-Doc opportunities in Earth system history and stable isotope
geochemistry *

Dr. Morgan Schaller, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Seeking highly motivated graduate students for PhD research opportunities
in stable isotope geochemistry and earth system history at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute for the fall 2015 academic year.

PhD and Post-Doc positions are available in the new stable isotope lab at
the department of Earth and Environmental Science (EES). Primary supervisor
would be Dr. Morgan Schaller. EES has an active and scientifically diverse
faculty with a history of open collaboration.

Research topics include:

- Assessing the scale of seasonality, and its latitudinal expression
in response to pCO2 change in the Late Triassic Hothouse.

- Stable isotope studies on paleosols, reconstructing past
concentrations of atmospheric CO2, and further refinement of the
‘paleobarometer’ through new techniques. This project involves the newly
recovered Colorado Plateau Coring Project Core.

- Isotope signatures in ancient lacustrine sediments.

Interested candidates should contact Morgan Schaller at schall at rpi.edu and
apply through the graduate school online at:
