of California Davis*
A postdoctoral position at 100% time is available (expected start date
flexible but preferably early in the calendar year 2015) in the area of
experimental atmospheric chemistry and dynamics. Responsibilities will
include: deploying and maintaining/calibrating trace gas and aerosol
instrumentation at a remote coastal mountaintop monitoring station in
Monterey County, CA. Other job responsibilities will include: detailed
interpretation of the surface measurements in concert with ancillary
airborne data collected throughout the region; using the WRF model to
improve estimates of transport and mixing in complex terrain; and
synthesizing and extending the existing knowledge base on the long-range
transport of air pollutants to North America.

The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of microscale and/or
mesoscale meteorology *and* atmospheric chemistry measurements; skills with
chemical spectroscopy instrumentation and the ability to program in a
computer language such as Python, Matlab, R, C, or FORTRAN. Additional
skills (and most importantly interest) in airborne atmospheric sampling,
WRF-LES modeling, and/or using satellite databases are considered a plus.
The ideal candidate will further have experience publishing in
peer-reviewed journals, and will have excellent written and oral
communication skills. The candidate will be expected to perform extensive
fieldwork, travel to experimental sites and conferences with relative ease,
and be comfortable spending research time in a small fixed-wing aircraft.
