Dear colleagues, the Paleoclimatology and Sedimentology Laboratory in the
Department of Earth Sciences (http://earthsciences.iupui.edu/) at Indiana
University-Purdue University, Indianapolis is currently seeking applicants
that wish to pursue a Ph.D. in paleoclimatology starting fall 2015. The PhD
position is part of an NSF-funded research project investigating Holocene
Indian summer monsoon variability as recorded in a series of lake sediment
archives from the Tibetan Plateau. The research includes extensive
fieldwork in addition to a variety of laboratory and analytical activities
surrounding physical sedimentology, organic geochemistry and isotope
geochemistry. Familiarity with sediment cores, physical sedimentology,
isotope geochemistry, organic chemistry and data analysis are desired, but
not essential. Those with, or close to completing, a M.Sc. are particularly
encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should send their C.V., a
personal statement and transcripts (copies are fine) as a single PDF file
to Dr. Broxton Bird (bwbird at iupui.ediu). Please contact Dr. Bird directly
with any inquiries about the position.
Best regards,
Broxton Bird
