Assistant or Associate Professor of GIS and Physical Geography
Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a tenure-track position
of Assistant or Associate Professor (with appropriate qualifications) in
the Department of Geography with specialization in Geographic Information
Science (GIS) and physical geography, to begin September 1, 2014.
We seek candidates who have an earned doctorate, but will consider
candidates who have achieved ABD status and will complete the
doctorate by September
1, 2014. We are interested in applicants who are strongly committed to
strengthening a College environment that includes and welcomes students and
faculty from diverse cultural groups, and who will diversify the expertise
and experiences represented in the Department. A commitment to
undergraduate teaching and advising is essential, and development of an
active undergraduate research program is highly encouraged.
The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in
GIS to contribute to our GIS minor and Geography major. The candidate will
also teach courses in physical geography such as climatology, water
resources, or soils. The candidate will have opportunity to develop a
course in his or her area of expertise and offer short-term study abroad
courses. We are particularly interested in candidates with an international
perspective and a desire to work with our interdisciplinary programs such
as Environmental Studies.
