The Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry (MPI-BGC) in Jena, Germany,
invites applications for a 3-year PhD position focusing on regional
scale atmospheric modeling in the Siberian Arctic. The position will be
integrated into an ongoing research program within the Department for
Biogeochemical Systems at MPI-BGC, which focuses on constraining
surface-atmosphere carbon exchange fluxes in permafrost ecosystems
across multiple spatiotemporal scales. The new project component will
primarily cover atmospheric observations and data assimilation at
regional scales, strongly building on atmospheric inverse modeling
techniques and geostatistical methods. As a secondary focus, we target
capturing and interpreting greenhouse gas emission signals from the East
Siberian Shelf area with new observation sites.
Please find more details on project description, desired qualifications
and application procedure in the attached PDF. Application deadline for
full consideration in the associated graduate school program at our
institute (IMPRS-gBGC) is September 30, 2013. For further questions,
please contact mathias.goeckede at bgc-jena.mpg.de.
