Assistant Professor in Chemical Oceanography, Texas A&M University, College Station

The successful candidate will work with existing faculty and research staff within Oceanography and the Geochemical and Environmental Research Group, and seek new research opportunities through proposals to local, state, federal, and industrial agencies. The research effort should be experimentally based and could focus on one of the following areas: biogeochemical cycling of organic carbon, inorganic carbon and associated elements; trace element and/or radioisotope cycling in the marine environment; chemical oceanographic aspects of climate change; utilization of modern chemical instrumental techniques and novel chemical approaches; sensor technology; international, multi-disciplinary chemical oceanography programs; development of innovative regional investigations of global chemical processes; and application of chemical techniques and technologies for regional coastal observing. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching and mentoring mission of the College by teaching classes within OCNG in his/her specialty, and in support of the College's program in Environmental Geosciences. 

Required: Ph.D. in marine chemistry, chemical oceanography, environmental chemistry or chemistry. Preferred: Ph.D. in chemical oceanography plus post-doctoral experience. The candidate should have a strong background in experimental marine chemistry, including experience at sea and success in obtaining external research funding. Ability to work with a varied group of faculty and technical personnel.
