*Watershed Hydrologist*
*_Position Description_**: *The Department of Environmental Sciences at
the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a
9-month tenure track position in watershed hydrology at the rank of
Assistant Professor. The position has 25% Instruction and Research and
75% Organized Research in the Agricultural Experiment Station

*Research:*The Department of Environmental Sciences invites applications
for a tenure track position in watershed hydrology at the rank of
Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will develop a nationally
recognized program in watershed hydrology focused on water supply and
sustainability for agricultural, urban, and environmental uses. The
incumbent is expected to have expertise in regional-scale hydrological
modeling and geographical information systems (GIS). Research areas may
include, but are not limited to, the impact of climate change on
watershed response (e.g., timing, frequency and duration of runoff
events), and regional changes in snowpack, groundwater/soil water
storage and evapotranspiration. The incumbent will be encouraged to work
with current faculty in related fields including limnology,
environmental chemistry, water resource management and water resource
economics, as well as faculty in allied departments focused on climate
modeling, terrestrial and fire ecology, and water resources engineering.
*Teaching:*The successful candidate is expected to be fully engaged in
the teaching mission of the department and university, including formal
classroom instruction in the Environmental Sciences undergraduate and
graduate degree programs (including mentoring of both MS and Ph.D
students). Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses
in physical hydrology and GIS and graduate courses in the candidate's
area of specialty.
*Application:*A Ph.D. in hydrology, or related field and a proven
ability to conduct innovative hydrologic research are required.
