Postdoctoral Research Position
The Laboratory for Atmospheric Research (LAR) at Washington State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research appointment. Candidates are sought who are experienced with advanced aerosol and trace gas measurement techniques, particularly aerosol mass spectrometry. The primary project will focus on the links between plant stress, biogenic VOC emissions, and the formation of secondary organic aerosol. There will be additional responsibilities associated with the group’s work on combustion aerosols and urban air quality. Most work will be conducted on campus in Pullman, Washington, but some travel will be required in support of field activities. Self-motivation and the ability to work collaboratively with other group members are critical. The selected candidate should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills. The position is for one year, renewable for a second year contingent on performance. An earned Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science field is required before the date of hire.
The Laboratory for Atmospheric Research is an air quality research group with a long history and a strong reputation. Its strengths lie in atmospheric chemical field observations, instrument development, and numerical modeling across scales. There are nine faculty members in LAR, and the Lab collaborates extensively with WSU faculty and outside scientists on a broad range of projects. More information about LAR can be found at its website: http://www.lar.wsu.edu.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a one-page statement of interests and qualifications, and contact information for three references. WSU is an equal opportunity / affirmative action educator and employer. Protected group members are encouraged to apply. Applications and questions about the position should be addressed to:
