Dear all

Sorry for my poor Skype connection (from a B&B in York, UK). Next week
I'll try to find a real phone.

There were two items.

1) I wanted to confirm that the simple tests with the point source in the
Iphone camera let us characterize the level of scattered light. In my
mind's eye I see a PRF with a peak and wings extending across the rest of
the chip - how bright are they at a specified angular distance, e.g. 30
arc min from the point source? And are these wings flat across the image,
or still retaining some central concentration.

Probably these cameras are worthless for coronal imaging, and our main
input from them will be to follow the ring of fire.

Is there an app that you know that lets you get a TIFF out of the Iphone?

2) I had an email from Monica Bobra (CfA), who is a solar physicist whose
work I know a little bit. She is interested in pitching in and wants to
help with outreach. As a fresh PhD with image-processing skills, she may
also be able to help with image manipulation. With your approval I'd
encourage her in both areas.
