Hello all,
Below are some of the audiences that we may engage for the Eclipse 2012 event-there are more to consider, but I suggest this is plenty for now.
Note: We anticipate that the segment of the general public we would reach in these audiences would be primarily those who already have an interest in science and/or technology.
Primary, near-term audiences:
* General Public reached through the following:
o Amateur astronomers, club members and their events. Assume Amateur astronomers would use their own telescopes and members and event audiences would use the iPad/iPods
o Locally organized events (supported by organizations such as Astronomical Association of Queensland, Solar Eclipse Marathon-this could be a great place to get the word out about the app.)
o National Parks and interpreters at parks. Trying to make contacts through our US National Park Service
* K-12 Classroom Teachers-materials for classroom students, primarily on the web
* Informal Educators at Science Centers and museums-access the event/resources via the web. We are contacting ASTC to determine any science museum connections we have in Queensland.
