The Developmental Testbed Center (DTC) is pleased to announce the release of the following community data assimilation systems:
Version 3.4 of the Community Gridpoint Statistical Interpolation (GSI) data assimilation system
Version 1.0 of the Community Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) data assimilation system
GSI and EnKF are currently the operational data assimilation system for NCEP’s GFS. GSI is also used by other operational models, e.g., NAM and HWRF (NCEP), Rapid Refresh (NOAA), GEOS (NASA), etc. The two systems share the same observation operators inside GSI and can be run with both global (e.g., GFS) and regional models (ARW, NMM, NMM-B).

The released package for GSI and EnKF and their documentation can be accessed through the system homepage listed as follows:
GSI home page: http://www.dtcenter.org/com-GSI/users/index.php
EnKF home page: http://www.dtcenter.org/EnKF/users/index.php
Questions and inquiries can be sent to either gsi_help at ucar.edu and enkf_help at ucar.edu.

The DTC is a distributed facility, with a goal of bridging the research and operational communities. This code release is sponsored by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NCAR. NCAR is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
