Thanks for the layout.
One line resembles a risky form in csh:
@ lnd_start = $total_cpl + $total_ice + $total_ocn

If any of those +s were -s it would give the 'wrong' answer.
  $ @ three = 6 - 1 - 2
  $ echo $three
7
