CEDAR & GEM communities:

We encourage CEDAR and GEM community members to register for the
forthcoming joint CEDAR-GEM workshop that will be held in Des
Moines, Iowa during June 22-27, 2025.

It has been nine years since the 2016 joint CEDAR-GEM workshop
that was held in Santa Fe, New Mexico. With the new Decadal Survey
released in late 2024, there has been strong community support for
once again adopting the joint format for this year's CEDAR and GEM
meetings. The CEDAR and GEM steering committees have thus been
working together for more than a year to implement this, in
collaboration with our sponsors at NSF, and with our conference
organizers at UCAR/CPAESS and at the University of New Hampshire.
As a result, we have planned a comprehensive six-day meeting that
will feature:

An exciting student day on Sunday
June 22 that has been jointly organized by our two student
groups.

Multiple joint plenary sessions
to address topics of combined interest in the areas of science,
programmatics, and community care.

A number of independent
CEDAR-only and GEM-only plenary sessions dedicated to each
group's specific science topics.

A wide selection of
community-proposed breakout science workshops addressing timely
science topics of high importance - some joint, some CEDAR-only,
and some GEM-only. Outside of plenary sessions, there will
generally be seven breakout workshops running in parallel.

Agency updates presented during a
joint plenary session, plus agency office hours for more direct
one-to-one discussions with agency leads.

CEDAR and GEM poster sessions
running in parallel, with all posters on display all week.

Discussion of the new Decadal
Survey during a joint plenary session on Friday.

Various extracurricular
activities including a banquet, a meeting excursion, student-led
community events, and breakout events led by various sub-groups
for both scientific collaboration and and for socializing.

A fantastic conference center and
venue in Des Moines, Iowa.

Meeting attendees will register through the familiar portals run
by their respective CEDAR or GEM communities. We remind everyone
that the deadline for "early bird" registration on the CEDAR side
is this Friday, May 7. This is also the deadline for submission of
regular CEDAR poster abstracts.
