<p class="MsoPlainText">• The Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) has released a new Dear Colleague Letter:
<a href="https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2024/nsf24021/nsf24021.jsp?"><span style="color:#0563C1">Request for Information on Technologies to Enable Observations in Remote-Extreme Environments</span></a>. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">The goal of this DCL is to solicit ideas from the research community regarding what innovative technologies and solutions are needed to advance geoscience research and knowledge in remote-extreme environments. Responses to the DCL should
help to identify and address technological barriers currently faced by the geosciences observational community, such as power, communications, materials, data storage, miniaturization, long-term autonomous deployment, and community/capacity-building. In this
context, GEO is seeking community input to develop a full range of topical ideas/needs which may be further refined and used to inform future funding opportunities, workshops, novel collaborations, partnerships, and ultimately drive innovative solutions.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText">NSF’s Office of International Science and Engineering has released the new version of the
<a href="https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2024/nsf24506/nsf24506.htm?"><span style="color:#0563C1">International Research Experiences for Students (IRES)</span></a>. The IRES provides mechanisms to support U.S. students to conduct cutting-edge scientific research and
engage in high-quality research-related professional development activities abroad, in collaboration with foreign investigators. The next upcoming deadline is February 5th, 2024.<o:p></o:p></p>
