<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333;background:white">Lightning is a global natural hazard, lethal and destructive on short time scales and have important climatic effects on longer time-scales (through NOx production and forest fire ignition).
It is accompanied by severe weather, hail and flash flooding that often cause significant economic losses. The intensity and nature of convective storms and lightning in future climate conditions have not been well understood or predicted. In an era of climate
change, human societies are becoming more vulnerable to extreme weather events, therefore lightning prediction and detection are essential for aviation, shipping and public safety. We invite contributions dealing with the physical and chemical processes in
thunderstorms and lightning and their effects on the atmosphere. We seek contributions dealing with convective storms, cloud electrification, numerical weather forecasting of thunderstorms and lightning, and regional and global detection networks. Of special
interest will be works on global lightning patterns in an era of climate change (especially in the Asia-Oceania region), satellite-based studies of thunderstorms and other remote-sensing technologies, as well as urban effects on lightning. We also welcome
talks on lightning effects on the upper atmosphere, including TLEs, TGFs and energetic particles.</span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white"> </span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"><br style="mso-special-character:line-break">
