From MSHARMA at nsf.gov Mon May 4 15:51:12 2026 From: MSHARMA at nsf.gov (Sharma, Mangala) Date: Mon, 4 May 2026 21:51:12 +0000 Subject: CEDAR email: Nominate members to NASEM Committee on Radio Frequencies (CORF) Message-ID: CEDAR community, NASEM is seeking nominations for membership on their Committee on Radio Frequencies (CORF). Here is the nomination form: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7874215/Committee-on-Radio-Frequencies-CORF Why should you be engaged? Because CORF makes recommendations about radio spectrum that could be important for geospace observations and instruments. Copied below is the NASEM summary of CORF (see more at https://www.nationalacademies.org/units/BPAX-L-06-90-C): The standing Committee on Radio Frequencies (CORF) considers the needs for radio frequency requirements and interference protection for scientific and engineering research, coordinates the views of the U.S. scientists, and acts as a channel for representing the interests of U.S. scientists in the work of the inter-union commission on frequency allocations for radio astronomy and space science (IUCAF) of the International Council of Scientific Unions. CORF monitors and responds to radio frequency interference and allocation issues as they arise and works closely with the spectrum manager at the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the frequency management office at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). CORF participates in filing comments before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). We?re just passing on this information as we think it?s of interest to the CEDAR community. Please reach out to the NASEM if you have questions about CORF or the nomination process.
