Dear CEDAR Community,
We invite you to join us for the workshop, "GLOW Up: Community Input and Code Development," on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
The GLobal AirglOW (GLOW) model remains a foundational tool for ionosphere-thermosphere science, but localized versions have fragmented its development. To address this, we are introducing an updated, community-driven version of GLOW featuring a transparent Python front-end, 2-D calculation capabilities, and modern driver compatibility (MSIS-2.1, IRI-2020, WMM-2020). In addition, we will hear from community members on their implementation of the current version of GLOW.
We welcome and encourage researchers of all experience levels to attend:
* Beginners: Learn the basics of GLOW and how it can benefit your science.
* Intermediate users: Meet the community and discover new workflows.
* Power users: Give your direct input on what features and physics updates we should implement next.
We will run a hands-on tutorial using a Jupyter notebook template. Please bring your laptop if you want to get the new GLOW 2-D model running on your machine!
Full session details and justifications can be found on the CEDAR workshop website<https://cedarscience.org/workshop/2026-workshop-glow-community-input-and-code-development>. We look forward to collaborating with you to shape the future of GLOW development.
Best regards,
