CEDAR email: Fall AGU Session on Terrestrial Exospheres

  We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to AGU Session SA022 - The Terrestrial Exosphere in the Sun-Earth System. We would look forward to seeing your presentations on the range of topics described in the session description below:


Earth's exosphere is known to play a critical role in mediating Earth's recovery from geomagnetic storms and is the pathway for the permanent gravitational escape of its constituent hydrogen (H) atoms. This session focuses on investigations of Earth's exosphere enabled by the NASA's Carruthers Geocorona Observatory, which launched in September 2025 and is now obtaining unprecedented measurements of exospheric H density at high spatial and temporal resolution. Abstracts are solicited for a wide range of exospheric physics topics, including atmospheric H escape, solar radiation pressure, and ion transport and energy dissipation driven by exospheric charge exchange coupling. In particular, this session will emphasize the nature and origin of the exosphere's dynamic response to geomagnetic disturbances. Abstracts presenting numerical models that can be driven or validated by Carruthers data are welcome.
