Space Weather Intern Opportunity at NASA Space Weather Program Office in Summer 2026

The NASA Space Weather Program Office invites eight dedicated and motivated early career
professionals to co-develop two space weather projects with users and end users. The projects
will be conducted in person at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, from
June 1st to August 7th, 2026.

Participants will work closely with users and end users to utilize Heliophysics observations,
tools, and models to support their decision-making processes for the following projects:


  *   Predicting Space Weather Impacts on High Frequency Communication Disruptions of
Commercial Polar Flights;

  *   Near Real-time Monitoring of Mars' Space Environment to Support Robotic and Human
Exploration.

Within an interdisciplinary team and supported by science advisors and mentors, participants
will enhance their research and science communication skills, preparing them for future success
in the workforce.

Participants are expected to dedicate up to 29 hours per week to these projects. The hourly pay
ranges from $ 24.33 to $27.90, depending on education level. The opportunity is open to currently
enrolled college students, recent graduates, and early or transitioning career professionals.
