Geophysical Research Letters (GRL) publishes high-impact, innovative and timely communications-length articles on major advances spanning the Earth and space sciences. Papers should have broad and immediate implications meriting rapid decisions and high visibility. The full scope of the journal can be found at https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/hub/journal/19448007/aims-and-scope/read-full-aims-and-scope.

AGU is looking for dynamic, well-organized scientists with high editorial standards to join the editorial board. A Ph.D. and strong publication record is required. Prior editorial experience is preferred but not required. We welcome applicants in all areas covered by GRL, but we are especially interested in recruiting new members of the editorial board in space science, paleoclimate, cryosphere, physical oceanography, and the geomorphology and geochemistry of the solid Earth.

GRL receives approximately 5,000 submissions per year. Editor and Associate Editor terms are for 2 or 4 years and applications are due by June 15, 2025. Staff support is provided by AGU.
	•	Editors manage the peer review process, assess the quality and novelty of the science presented, and identify or solicit thought-provoking papers. Editors make decisions on the submissions based on their own reading, reviews, and, sometimes, Associate Editor recommendations. Editors are provided an honorarium and a travel stipend, receive free access to all AGU journals, and complimentary registration to AGU annual meetings during their terms. Editors are expected to handle about 5-15 new manuscripts per month, in addition to revised and resubmitted manuscripts. The load handled by each editor depends greatly on discipline and can be mitigated in the event that qualified Editors have constraints.
	•	Associate Editors support AGU's rigorous peer review by evaluating a manuscript's merit and suitability for peer review, identifying qualified reviewers, assessing the reviews and making recommendations to the editor. Associate Editors occasionally serve as reviewers, when needed. Associate Editors receive free access to all AGU journals and complimentary registration to AGU annual meetings during their terms. Associate Editors are expected to handle 2-3 new manuscripts per month, depending on discipline, in addition to continuing to oversee revised and resubmitted manuscripts.

To receive full consideration, please complete the application form at https://forms.monday.com/forms/7a4ad5e38d08455b1d126cd0c1d7a3a1 by June 22, 2025. For questions, please contact GRL Editor-in-Chief Kris Karnauskas (kristopher.karnauskas at colorado.edu).

Editors and Associate Editors are expected to adhere to the Ethical Obligations of Editors and Code of Conduct outlined in AGU's Scientific Integrity and Professional Ethics Policy and to contribute to AGU's efforts to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) in scholarly publishing. More information about editorships for AGU Publications can be found at https://www.agu.org/publications/editors.
