Dear Colleagues,
Dear AGATA enthusiasts,
AGATA (Antarctic Geospace and ATmosphere reseArch) is a coordinated,
worldwide effort to monitor, investigate and better understand the physics
of the polar atmosphere and the impact of the Sun-Earth interactions on the
polar regions. AGATA is a Scientific Research Programme of the Scientific
Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). It will run for eight years and
will also prepare the community for the 5th International Polar Year.
AGATA takes advantage of existing and planned instrumentation in
Antarctica, but also in the Arctic and satellite-based observations, and it
aims for coordinated research efforts and data exchange. This bi-polar
perspective will allow the study of interhemispheric asymmetries in the
atmospheric response observed in the polar regions. To learn more visit the
AGATA webpage: https://scar.org/science/research-programmes/agata
After a successful kick-off-meeting a couple of months ago, several
persons, among them many Early Career Researchers, have been nominated for
leadership positions in AGATA. Now, AGATA members are electing AGATA
governance: leaders of Working Groups and Task Groups. Elections are open
until 22 June 2025, 23:59 GMT.
All members of AGATA will receive the unique link to participate in
elections.
If you are not AGATA member yet, you can always join AGATA by filling the
registration form under this link:
https://nettskjema.no/a/agata-registration and participate in AGATA
activities. If you become a member before 22 June, you will also receive
invitation to participate in the AGATA elections.
Best regards,
Lucilla Alfonsi and Wojciech Miloch
Chief Officers of AGATA SRP, SCAR
