Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to the AGU session SA009 - Dynamics of the Thermosphere and Ionosphere System at Low and Middle Latitudes Driven by External and Internal Forcing. The deadline for abstract submission is July 31.

Session description

Over the past several years, understanding of the thermosphere and ionosphere system has been considerably advanced by recent satellite missions (e.g., GOLD, COSMIC-2, and ICON), existing ground-based observations, and improvements in numerical modeling capabilities. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, variability in thermospheric winds, composition, thermal structure, and ionospheric electric field and electron density due to external forcing from solar and geomagnetic activity, as well as internal atmospheric variability that arises due to atmospheric waves from the lower atmosphere, polar vortex activity, etc. This session solicits research papers that employ data from satellite missions, ground-based observations, and state-of-the-art general circulation models to address compelling scientific questions regarding variability on various scales (i.e., day-to-day, seasonal, and interannual) in the ionosphere-thermosphere system.
