Second Announcement: 47th Annual European Meeting on Atmospheric Studies by Optical Methods, Stockholm, Sweden, August 21-24, 2023.
Abstract submission is now open for the 47th “Optical Meeting”, with deadline on May 21. You are invited you to present and discuss new developments and applications of optical instrumentation ranging from the ground to space.
Please see the meeting website www.su.se/misu/opticalmeeting<http://www.su.se/misu/opticalmeeting> for details.
Meeting topics include:
(1) New developments in optical instrumentation from the ground, space and other platforms.
(2) Optical science from the troposphere to the thermosphere/ionosphere, including
- atmospheric composition, aerosols and clouds
- airglow
- aurora
- noctilucent clouds
- meteors
- sprites, jets etc.
(3) Optical calibration techniques.
(4) Analysis techniques.
(5) Optical atmospheric measurements in education.
Confirmed invited speakers (so far):
- Léo Bosse (Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy)
- Lisa Baddeley (The University Centre in Svalbard)
- Mike Taylor (Utah State University)
- Sivert Bakken (Norwegian University of Science and Technology)
- Sota Nanjo (University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo)
- Supriya Chakrabarti (University of Massachusetts)
- Thomas Ulich (Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory)
- Urban Brändström (Swedish Institute of Space Physics)
Abstract submission: Abstract submission is now open. Please submit your abstract by simply sending it by e-mail to gumbel at misu.su.se. It should contain the usual information: title, author(s), affiliation(s), e-mail contact, and abstract text. Indicate if you prefer a poster presentation. Please send the abstract as a Word file or plain text. Deadline for abstract submission is May 21.
Registration: Registration will open in June. There will be a conference fee of SEK 3500 (SEK 1500 for students and Ph.D. students).
Venue: The meeting will take place at Stockholm University. Participants should book hotel rooms on their own. In order to facilitate this, we have pre-booked rooms in some hotels. More information will become available on the meeting website in early May.
Young scientists: We in particular would like to welcome young scientists that are new to optical atmospheric measurements. We anticipate to include some general tutorials at the meeting.
Calibration Workshop: As at earlier Optical Meetings, there is an opportunity for an inter-calibration workshop of light sources. Please let us know if you are interested.
The future: This year marks the 50th anniversary of this series of Optical Meetings. This will also be an important opportunity to discuss future direction of the meeting and of the field in general.
More information will be posted on the meeting website www.su.se/misu/opticalmeeting<http://www.su.se/misu/opticalmeeting>. Please spread this information to your colleagues.
