The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a scientific computing software engineer with strong mathematics, signal analysis, data processing, and data analysis skills to become a part of our team. We are investigating the Earth's ionosphere and its impact on defense-related systems through basic research and applied science. Our group is developing frameworks that support high-speed and real-time signal and data analysis for RF and Over the Horizon Radar (OTHR) applications. Candidates should possess familiarity in one or more of the following areas: radar signal processing, software design, data visualization, algorithm development, radio propagation, and plasma physics. This position is located on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.


Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
* Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance
* Willingness and disposition to provide mentoring, leadership, and experience sharing with other engineers and scientists
* Able to work effectively both independently and as a team member and the ability to be productive in a dynamic and collaborative environment
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal


Desired Qualifications:

* Demonstrable experience and expertise in signal processing and image analysis
* Working knowledge of radar, radar systems, remote sensing, and signal detection
* Competency in common programming language and analysis tools (e.g., Julia, Python, C++)
* Experience and expertise with common software development practices, including:
*** Version control and continuous integration
*** Cross-platform implementations (Linux and Windows)
*** Detailed software documentation
*** Parallel processing, hyper-threading, or GPU processing
* Familiarity with basic atmospheric or ionospheric measurement techniques
* Strong computing background and can demonstrate capabilities in object-oriented design and development
* Analysis of very large data sets
* Machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and image analysis techniques
