Dear CEDAR 2022 participants,

We welcome all participants to the CEDAR Workshop: Community Science Enabled by the upcoming GDC mission scheduled for Monday June 20th from 3:30 pm - 6 pm CT.

This workshop is joint with GEM who will be hosting their workshop in Hawaii. The GEM session will be broadcast via Zoom in the CEDAR workshop room starting at 3:30pm CT on Monday, June 20th. From 3:30 pm - 4 pm, the GEM session will discuss two GEM-centric mission: TRACERS and EZIE. CEDAR participants are welcome to join that broadcast. At 4pm, the CEDAR workshop will start and be broadcast to the GEM community via Zoom. We hope to have joint discussions between the two communities, as the GDC mission is important to both.

The workshop seeks discussion of how ground-based instrumentation can advance the science and augment the validation of the GDC mission, identify secondary science questions GDC data can be used to answer (in conjunction with ground-based or other space-based assets) , seek input on how the community desires GDC data be organized, utilized and visualized, address what GDC can contribute to current models, what lessons have been learned from current and past IT system missions, how commercial data can augment the mission's science return, and other topics closely related to the GDC mission. GDC is also a future mission that requires support by the community through the next decadal survey. We encourage attendees to consider including GDC in their whitepapers if the topics can be addressed by this mission.

The general agenda from 3:30 pm - 6 pm is as follows:

  * 30 minute - GEM session starts with TRACERS, EZIE talks
  *   10 min CEDAR Session-Introduction: Yue/Rebecca
     *   Goals of the session
     *   Decadal Survey input
  * 30 minute - CEDAR/GEM joint session starts, Doug (GDC overview, funding opportunities),
  *   20 min  Q&A
  * 20 (10 min/each) minute - Two speakers from the GEM community on science investigations that GDC would enable
  * 20 (10 min/each) minute - Two speakers from the CEDAR community on science investigations that GDC would enable
  *   20 minute - Q&A

Thank you,
Community Science Enabled by the upcoming GDC mission Conveners
