*Description*
Position Available: The School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
(AME) at
the University of Oklahoma is seeking candidates for one tenure-track
position in
aerospace engineering at the Assistant Professor level whose experiences and
interests have prepared them to be an integral contributor to the
advancement of our
inclusive and diverse communities engaged in scientific discovery,
developing talent,
and service to society.

The position is part of a strategic College of Engineering initiative to
grow faculty and
students that serve the aerospace and defense sector of the state of
Oklahoma through
workforce development and research partnerships. Candidates with expertise
in one or
more of the following areas are of particular interest for the position:
• space vehicle guidance
• spacecraft attitude and control
• orbital mechanics and astrodynamics
• planetary mission design

A successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized
research
program in one or more of the areas listed above, mentor and nurture
undergraduate
and graduate students, promote an inclusive environment inside and outside
the
classroom, and work collaboratively and collegially with faculty members.
Qualifications
*Candidate Qualifications: *Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in aerospace
engineering or in a related field.

Application Process: Candidates are invited to submit (1) a statement of
teaching
describing their teaching philosophy; (2) a research plan describing the
problems to be
studied, funding avenues to be explored and mentorship of undergraduate and
graduate
students; (3) a curriculum vitae; (4) a commitment to diversity statement;
(5) copies of
three research publications; and (6) a list of at least three references.
Candidates
should discuss how they intend to promote the values of diversity, equity,
and inclusion
in the diversity statement and elaborate on past experience. Review of
candidates will
begin on December 10, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled.

*Department and Region: *AME currently has 29 full-time faculty members and
over 700
undergraduate and 60 graduate students. Currently, both AME and the
Gallogly College
of Engineering are experiencing strong growth in research, corporate and

donations, and student enrollment. AME has maintained its historically
strong student
quality with more than 70 National Merit Scholars currently enrolled.
