Dear Colleagues,
The Resen platform developed under NSF-supported Integrated Geoscience
Observatory (InGeO)
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/ingeo.datatransport.org/__;!!Nv3xtKNH_4uope0!0ma5Aes-ogwJpQ0NAH90i0lr53nPPRErzCEY0BdpTY_Wj8VpzFf7MOI5Q9Kw3no$>
project integrates several community-developed Python libraries
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/ingeo.datatransport.org/home/resen/packages__;!!Nv3xtKNH_4uope0!0ma5Aes-ogwJpQ0NAH90i0lr53nPPRErzCEY0BdpTY_Wj8VpzFf7MOI5wcZyrPg$>
that geospace scientists use to carry out their research, and provides a
way to create computationally reproducible results. Resen makes it
easier for students and other researchers to access these community
tools by making them available in containerized environments.
Resen is available through an online interface
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/ingeo.datatransport.org/home/resen/resen-online__;!!Nv3xtKNH_4uope0!1EAXh4JMyWLwboeU86MPjCa-6tROWa0-PcjHaVRuRqs4v2taOFj32dHHdRJax9Q$>
that gives ready access to these libraries via a cloud service, and as a
downloadable software
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/github.com/EarthCubeInGeo/resen__;!!Nv3xtKNH_4uope0!1EAXh4JMyWLwboeU86MPjCa-6tROWa0-PcjHaVRuRqs4v2taOFj32dHHcSnR3o4$>
that one can use to create containerized, reproducible results. Resen
provides Jupyter <https://jupyter.org/> notebooks as an interactive
platform and includes several introductory tutorials for those who are
new to Python, or these libraries. It provides a smooth way for
researchers to quickly start analyzing data and reproduce the work of
others without having to configure their local computational environment
correctly.
We have planned a series of 3 webinars covering Resen online,
reproducibility in geospace sciences, and using Resen locally to create
computationally reproducible results. The dates, times and a brief
description of the webinars are given below.

**
*Introduction to Resen Online: Thursday, April 2, 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM
UTC. *
Sign-up for an online account, get familiarized with computing
environment and go through a tutorial to learn how to use it. *
*
*Reproducibility of research results: Thursday, April 16,* *10 AM PT/1
PM ET/5 PM UTC*
A webinar on what is involved in research reproducibility, and why it is
important. What can we do in the digital age to ensure research
reproducibility?
*Using Resen to create computationally reproducible results: Thursday,
April 30,* *10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM UTC*
In this webinar, we will go through using downloadable Resen platform to
create containerized results, and how to share and reuse them.
*------------------------------------*
These webinars will be especially useful for students who are beginning
in the field and experienced scientists looking to get better introduced
to switching to open-source methods, and interested in reproducibility.
