Please join two CEDAR workshops for a discussion of how to best address
the challenges of predicting space weather in the sessions:

Space Weather Observations Network: Ionospheric Disturbances -

Monday 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Tuesday 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

    Room: Mesa B/Hilton

Space Weather Observations Network: Thermospheric Expansion –

Tuesday 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

    Wednesday 1:30 to 3:30

    Room: Mesa B/Hilton

The workshops are an opportunity for the CEDAR community to put forward
its ideas regarding the instrumentation that is required to enable
prediction of space weather. The community will be asked to address five
questions:

1) What are the goals of prediction?(ie., spatial and temporal scales,
cadence, precision, etc.)

2) What gaps in understanding must be filled to enable predictive
simulations?

3) What modeling advances are needed for prediction?

4) What observations are necessary to provide the basis for
understanding and modeling?

5) What instrumentation is necessary to provide those observations?

Each question will be addressed in short presentations followed by
audience discussion. A list of confirmed speakers follows at the end of
this email. There will be a Google Document open on the screen for
editing in real-time to capture the discussions.

We invite contributions of brief (5 minute) thought provoking talks that
directly address any of the five questions.
