POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN ATMOSPHERIC AND SPACE PHYSICS.
A postdoctoral position within the field of atmospheric and space physics is available at the Department of Physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The duration of the appointment is 2 years, with the possibility of renewal.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The work will be within the Atmospheric and Environmental Physics group to examine the observational evidence for solar and energetic particle effects on neutral atmosphere chemistry and dynamics. Satellite data as well as ground-based atmospheric radar, airglow and radiometer data will be examined for such signatures. The position will be part of the Birkeland Centre for Space Science (BCSS), a Research Council of Norway international collaborative Centre of Excellence. Hence the position, located at NTNU, will provide abundant opportunities for scientific cooperation with both the international and Norwegian space-science communities.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant should be highly competent, motivated and ambitious. The candidate must have a PhD in Atmospheric Science, Space Physics, Astrophysics or a related field, with strong data analysis, statistical, and programming skills. Practical experience handling large satellite datasets and/or atmospheric models is desirable, but not essential. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are important, and the applicant must speak and write English fluently.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The position is organized in the Department of Physics. Currently, there are 22 professors, 12 associate professors, 4 adjunct professors, 72 PhD research fellows and 15 postdoctoral positions appointed at the Department of Physics. Our research spans a broad spectrum of natural sciences and technology, which in turn allows us to offer an education providing a solid basis for future careers. Physics research is carried out in experimental as well as theoretical fields, often across conventional boundaries between disciplines. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The appointment of the Postdoc will be made according to Norwegian guidelines for universities and university colleges and to the general regulations regarding university employees. NTNU's personnel policy objective is that the staff must reflect the composition of the population to the greatest possible extent. The position as Postdoc is remunerated according to the Norwegian State salary scale. There is a 2% deduction for superannuation contribution.
