The Utah Valley University (UVU) Physics Department (www.uvu.edu/physics<http://www.uvu.edu/physics>) invites applications for an open rank tenure-track position in physics beginning July 1, 2017. The Department offers a bachelor’s degree in physics. Applicants must show evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching across the physics curriculum at the undergraduate level. Candidates with an outstanding record of teaching and with proven success in any field of physics research will be strongly considered, but preferential consideration will be given to those with experience in aeronomy or space physics who can collaborate with current faculty in projects of mutual interest. A PhD in physics is required at the time of appointment. The teaching load is 12 credit hrs/sem. Small amounts of internal funding are available. The faculty hire is required to establish a viable research program involving undergraduates. Development of external support is strongly suggested.

The Physics Department currently has 12 full time faculty with research interests in astronomy, particle physics, aeronomy, plasma physics, acoustics, medical physics, solid-state physics, and physics education. For a full description of the position and to apply, please visit http://www.uvu.jobs<http://www.uvu.jobs/>. Applications must be submitted online and require a cover letter, CV, a statement of teaching background and research interests, and three letters of recommendation. Inquiries may be directed to Prof. Phil Matheson, Physics Dept. Chair, phil.matheson at uvu.edu<mailto:phil.matheson at uvu.edu>, 801-863-7161. Applications received by 15 Jan. 2017 will receive first consideration.

UVU is a dynamic, evolving institution with an enrollment of nearly 35,000 students. UVU is located in the Orem-Provo area, 40 miles south of Salt Lake City at the base of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. UVU is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, with a strong commitment to diversity. Women, minorities and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
