From Anatoly V. Streltsov (streltsa at erau.edu).

Three Ph.D-scholarships available for 2013 selection in Space Physics
area in Embry-Riddle Engineering Physics Ph.D program .

The Department of Physical Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University (ERAU) at Daytona Beach, FL invites applicants for 2013
Ph.D. graduate study program in the field of space plasma physics.
The program includes full funding (20,000 USD stipend plus free tuition),
training and education of up to 3 candidates in the fields of space
plasma physics, magnetohydrodynamics, and electromagnetism. It focuses
on preparation of young scientists for development of comprehensive
geophysical models and highly efficient numerical algorithms describing
electromagnetic waves and wave-particle interactions in the Earth’s
magnetosphere and the ionosphere and utilizing and developing techniques
for analyzing single and multi-spacecraft data. Students will apply
results from their educational/research projects for interpretation of
geophysical data collected by ground stations and satellites in several
high-profile NASA and NSF programs, such as Space Weather Forecast,
Radiation Belts Remediation and Active Ionospheric Experiments. Currently
the Aviation and Aerospace Engineering Program at Embry-Riddle is ranked #1
in the USA by US News, and the Physics Department provides excellent conditions
for studying modern geophysics including a high-performance computational
facility on campus. For further details about ERAU, Physics Department and
our Ph.D. program visit http://www.erau.edu and
http://daytonabeach.erau.edu/coas/physical-sciences/index.html. For specific
questions regarding this program contact Profs. Anatoly V. Streltsov
(streltsa at erau.edu) or Katariina Nykyri (nykyrik at erau.edu), Department
of Physical Sciences, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University,

(3) Faculty Positions, Boston University Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering -due 31 December.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Joshua Semeter <jls at bu.edu> via SPA Newsletter on 14 November.

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Boston
University is seeking candidates for several anticipated faculty
positions. All areas and ranks will be considered. Of particular interest
are entry-level and mid-career candidates in instrumentation and
analog/digital design. Candidates with research interests that transcend the
traditional boundaries of ECE are strongly encouraged to apply, including
potential collaborations with BU’s multidisciplinary Center for Space Physics
at http://www.bu.edu/csp.

Applicants interested in growing a vibrant university program in space
instrumentation or small satellite technology are particularly
welcome. Joint appointments with other BU departments and with the Division
of Material Science & Engineering and Division of Systems Engineering are
available for candidates with appropriate experience and interests.
Qualified candidates must possess a relevant PhD, and have a demonstrable
ability to teach effectively and develop a funded research program in their
area of expertise. Women, minorities, and candidates from other
underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Applications are
submitted online at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/1981

The application deadline is December 31, 2012. For further information, go

(4) Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Space Science at the University of Texas at
Dallas.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
From Phil Anderson (Phillip.Anderson1 at utdallas.edu).

The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track
faculty position in Atmospheric and Space Sciences in the Department of
Physics and the W. B. Hanson Center for Space Sciences. A strong space-based
and ground-based observational program in the ionosphere and thermosphere
presently enables a robust research program in space sciences. We seek to
expand the program capabilities with the addition of expertise in computational
modeling, solar physics and solar wind-magnetosphere interactions. The successful
candidate should have a PhD in space sciences or physics with an emerging record
of research accomplishment and a strong commitment to teaching, at both the
undergraduate and advanced graduate level. Interest and/or experience in
instrument development is a plus. Appointment will be made at the assistant
or associate professor level, appropriate to the experience of the candidate

The University of Texas at Dallas, located just north of Dallas in Richardson,
Texas now has an enrollment of nearly 20,000 students. It has been designated
by the State of Texas as one of seven emerging universities to be encouraged
to become major research campuses.

Evaluation of applications will begin immediately. Indication of gender and
ethnicity for affirmative action statistical purposes is requested as part
of the application.

Applicants should submit their current curriculum vitae with a complete
publication record, a detailed research plan, a teaching plan, and five
reference letters via the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM available at
http://go.utdallas.edu/pnj121102
