JOB OPENING: PostDoc in Computational Space Physics, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University. - Hiring date is August 16, 2011.
Postdoctoral Position. A Postdoctoral Associate position in Computational Space
Plasma Physics is available at Physical Sciences Department, Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida. A completed Ph.D. in Physics,
Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering is required. Research responsibilities
will include development numerical algorithms for partial differential equations
describing propagation of electromagnetic waves in strongly inhomogeneous space
plasma and simulations of wave-wave and wave-particle interactions in the
magnetosphere and the ionosphere. Candidate for the position should demonstrate
good knowledge of modern numerical methods, high-performance computing
(including parallelization) and visualization of scientific results.
Applications will be considered until the position is filled. The hiring date is
August 16, 2011. The initial appointment will be for 2 years with a potential
extension to 3rd year, depending on the performance and funds available. The
salary will be in the range of $50K per year. Interested applicant should e-mail
