(1) Invitation to Participate in 2010 CEDAR Workshop Sessions:
Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling, and High-Latitude Plasma Structures.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Josh Semeter (jls at bu.edu) and Jan Sojka (sojka at cc.usu.edu).

Two sessions will be convened at this year's CEDAR meeting to explore
various aspects of magnetosphere-ionosphere interactions: A
"Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling" (MIC) session, and a revitalized
"High Latitude Plasma Structure" (HLPS) session. The sessions are
motivated by the emergence of new enabling diagnostics, and by the
need to prepare for the forthcoming joint CEDAR/GEM meeting in the
summer of 2011. If you would like to make a brief presentation in
either of these sessions, please contact Josh Semeter for MIC
(jls at bu.edu) or Jan Sojka for HLPS (sojka at cc.usu.edu). Session
descriptions are linked at

(2) Lidar Post-doc at University of Illinois to be filled by 1 Sep.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
From Gary Swenson (swenson1 at uiuc.edu).

The Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (RSSS) group in the Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign has an opening for a Post Doctoral position. The
successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in experimental work in Aeronomy,
Space Physics, or related field. Among research duties, the research will
be involved in operations and data analysis of the Na wind/temperature lidar
at Cerro Pachon, Chile. Data analysis and aeronomical research into
mesospheric dynamics and chemistry are research goals, funded primarily
by research grants from the National Science Foundation. The candidate
should have experience in lidar operations, especially resonant lidar.
This position requires travel and participation in field experiments in
Chile. Data analysis and studies will include mesospheric airglow imaging
data of atmospheric waves and extrapolation of intrinsic wave parameters.
The position is located on the Urbana campus, and will involve working with
the RSSS faculty, staff, and students. The position is for 1 year, with a
second year renewable after the first 6 months. The position is currently
available, with a strong interest to fill the position by September 1, 2010.
Interested applicants should contact Paula O’Connor (217 333 9705) with an
electronic copy of their curriculum vitae (proconno at illinois.edu).
