<<  HPROGCLD output variable, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=46 >>

Postercathryn.meyer at yale.eduPostedWed Nov 03, 2004 1:49 pm MST, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?p=137#137
Message: I have altered CAM3.0 source code in aquaplanet so that the radiation code does not "see" any cloud cover, and I output the variable HPROGCLD to look at heating from prognostic clouds. I expected the clouds to heat the atmosphere slightly, however they instead cooled it. While this may be correct, I am wondering if there may be something wrong with the calculation of HPROGCLD as well.
<br />
<br />Is there anyplace, other than the CAM users guide, where I could get more information about the variable HPROGCLD? Where is it calculated in source code?
<br />
<br />Has anybody looked at this variable and seen what they expected?
<br />
<br />Thanks,
<br />Cathy

<< calculation of saturated frozen thermal conductivity of soil, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=45 >>

PosteryshcamsPostedWed Nov 03, 2004 1:40 am MST, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?p=136#136
Message: In module SoilTemperatureMod of Community Land Model 3, there a line to calculate saturated frozen thermal conductivity of soil,
<br />
<br />
<br />&gt; dksat = tkmg(c,j)*0.249**(fl*watsat(c,j))*2.29**watsat(c,j)
<br />&gt;
<br />&gt; 2.29 is for thermal conductivity of ice
<br />&gt; 0.023 for air
<br />&gt; 0.6 for liqid water
<br />
<br /> what is 0.249 for.
<br />
<br /> Thanks

Message: Hi,
<br />
<br />Hopefully you'll get lucky and find an answer here, but since you've posted a land model question to the atmosphere model bulletin board, you may not. If so, please contact the land model liaison or post to one of the CCSM bulletin board categories.

<< Using SCAM with specified surface properties, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=42 >>

PosterjmccaaPostedTue Nov 02, 2004 5:10 pm MST, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?p=128#128
Message: Rich,
<br />
<br />You are correct -- the the option to use specified surface properties is no implemented in CAM 3.0. It has been added to the development version of the model, and will be functional at the time of the upcoming 'software release' later this year.

<<  where to download CAM2 data, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=38 >>

Message: Yes, there are many files, see below.
<br />However, I checked the /ROSINSKI/csm/newsstamip06/atm/hist  just now
<br />and found that there are still several files ("h0").
<br />  I don't want "h1" files (see below), I want  all the "h0"  files.
<br /> DO you have the monthly 50yr(1950-1999) sea level pressure from
<br /> CAM2 in hand?
<br />  Thanks in advance.

Message: It appears that the files you are looking for are no longer on the MSS. I'm afraid that this
<br />happened because the person who did the simulation no longer works here and maintenance
<br />of the MSS files fell between the cracks. Sorry.
