<< Broken pipe error in linux cluster, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=36 >>

Message: Hi Cathy,

MPI problems can be difficult to debug. One reason for the model dying immediately is lack of memory for the MPI communications.
Do you have the environment variable P4_GLOBMEMSIZE set to a large value? I have it set as follows:
setenv P4_GLOBMEMSIZE 16777216

I don't know exactly what this does, but have found it to be a prerequisite for the model to run on our clusters. You have to either put this in your submission script or your .cshrc file so it gets picked up by the model.

Jim

Message: Thanks for your answers! :)
I found that sometimes one is not allowed to set large omp private thread stack size (KMP_STACKSIZE used by intel implementation) having shell stack size set unlimited.
For example
$> limit stacksize unlimited
$> setenv KMP_STACKSIZE 50m
coused some problems with kmp sack allocation and I received the message: "OMP abort: Unable to set worker thread stack size to 52428800 bytes. Try reducing KMP_STACKSIZE or increasing the shell stack limit"

But
$> limit stacksize 256m
$> setenv KMP_STACKSIZE 50m
works fine.

<< aerosol calculations, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=37 >>
Postercathryn.meyer at yale.eduPostedWed Oct 27, 2004 2:15 pm MDT, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?p=106#106
Message: I am trying to increase the amount of soot in the atmosphere to create a warming effect. To begin to do this (and to see the effects of the aerosols before I increase them), I think I need to enable carbon aerosols, which by default seem to be disabled. How do I do this?

Are all aerosol feedbacks turned off by default? Is this why the aerosol optical depth (TAUVIS) is constant at zero throughout model runs?

Thanks,
Cathy

<< where to download CAM2 data, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?t=38 >>
Postertz0616PostedWed Oct 27, 2004 2:55 pm MDT, http://bb.cgd.ucar.edu//viewtopic.php?p=107#107
Message: Dear sir/madam,

I want to download some data from CAM2 and I find the link
http://www.ccsm.ucar.edu/models/atm-cam/sims/cam2.0/
It is said that the data is only available from within UCAR in the
MSS directory /ROSINSKI/csm/newsstamip06
Then I go to the "tempest" and find out that there is only 2 files
available, please see below

/home/tempest/taozmsls /ROSINSKI/csm/newsstamip06/atm/hist
newsstamip06.cam2.h0.1997-06.nc newsstamip06.cam2.h0.2000-12.nc

I am asking why there is only two files existing in that directory and
where is the data archived.
I am looking forward to hearing from you,
Thanks,
