Hi Cathryn,

Not sure what you mean by efficency, however, CAM has 2 sets of routines
that estimate the effects of convection. Both have tunable parameters
that modify certain aspects of the "efficiency". In zm_conv.F90 "tau"
defines the rate at which potentially unstable profiles are stabilized.
In moistconvection.F90 a similar parameter, "cmftau", is used. In both,
a parameter "c0" defines the rate of micophysical collection of cloud
droplets into larger precipitation drops that fall. Modifying these is a
good starting point, although you should note that these schemes make
substantial assumptions in their formulation on the character of
convective systems. In any case, I suggest you read the documentation -
especially sections 4.1 and 4.2:

Good luck,

David
