Dear Cathy,
I would as temporary solution suggest, either in the program itsself
(my way) or around it (those who run scripts):
In case of monthly averaged outputs:
move (or copy and delete), issued from the program itsself
(e.g. issue a "shell command") all generated files starting and/or
ending on a certain string to the desired location.
This might be a distributed file system (such as from Unix) from
where the files can be processed later or an mss-type environment.
For "standard runs" I cannot comment respectively.
Above after the main stepping loop (e.g. after each n steps)
should also work. Considering which file is needed for the next
steps and which can be stored, is needed.
Thus the potential for errors when interfering with netCDF-issues
themselves is omitted.
