Hi Peter,

One explanation is that you have ice clouds in your profile.
The effective radius r_e of ice particles depends on temperature.
As prescribed by CCM, and, I believe, CAM, warming and cooling ice 
clouds decreases and increases ice r_e, respectively.
You may have increased ice r_e -> decreased cloud reflectance ->
increased surface insolation.
