Hi all,
Chris Davis asked me to pass along information to everyone regarding the
2011-2012 ASP GAU allocation and its usage.
For the 2011-2012 year, which runs from April 2011 through March 2012,
our /total /allocated GAUs are unchanged from last year. However, new
this year is that 40% of the allocation resides in the traditional
monthly allocation (which is subject to the 30- and 90-day limits) and
60% of the allocation resides in a new joint allocation (which is a
one-time usage pool).
Thus, on a month-by-month basis, we have 6,240 GAU per month. This
allocation should be used first. For the entire year, we have an
additional 140,400 GAU that can be used at any time by anyone. This
allocation should be used only on an "as-needed" basis with open
communication maintained between everyone so we know who is using it,
when it is being used, and how many GAUs are being used. As Chris
mentioned to me yesterday, we don't want to end up in a situation where
we end up running out of these GAUs in October!
Note that there are new project numbers for the ASP accounts:
Monthly Allocation: 54040011
One-Time Joint Allocation: 54048000
These replace the old 54042108 account number. Please change your
bluefire submission scripts accordingly.
As a result of the new standard allocation, we are currently at 187% of
our 30-day allocation and 190% of our 90-day allocation. CISL has upped
our limits for both to 300% for the month of April only, after which the
standard 120%/105% limits will apply. This presents a quandry for us,
however: it enables us to have access to our monthly allocation for the
month of April but effectively ensures that it will be unusable for at
least some portion of May. Even if we do not use any GAUs in our monthly
allocation this month, we will still be at 152% of the 90-day allocation
on May 1st. We would drop below 100% of the 90-day allocation on
approximately May 11th. Any GAUs we use from our monthly allocation this
month will delay that date. As a result, it is probably best to use GAUs
sparingly this month.
Thanks much to Chris and Paula for working to get this set up, and to
Dave Hart and Michelle Smart at CISL for their assistance in the matter.
I turn things back over to Sebastien to oversee our allocation and wiki,
but please do let me or Chris know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
-Clark
