<p class="MsoNormal">Hi all – I seem to post this question every few years, but then the answer changes with the technology, doesn’t it?<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">For my work, I run WRF for forecasting and analysis on a relatively small cluster (16 nodes, 12 cores per node, QDR Infiniband, Xeon x5670, 32 GB per node). Typical runs utilize 6 nodes (72 cores). I’m getting good performance, and I’d
be happy to stay with the cluster for now. Our IT group, however, wants to retire the hardware soon, since it’s over 4 years old, and is (or will be) out of warranty before long.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I’d like something roughly comparable – except with the benefit of the 4 years of updated technology. Just wondering what’s the current thinking as to best processor, interconnect, etc for running WRF. Probably want to stay with the same
basic kind of architecture, because it’s what we’re familiar with. But any/all suggestions are welcome.<o:p></o:p></p>
