<div dir="ltr">Hello,<div><br></div><div style>history_interval is how often wrf outputs the variables. Typical values might be every hour, or three hours, or six hours. </div><div style><br></div><div style>frames_per_outfile - is the number of output times in a single wrfout file. Some people like to put all their output times in a single file. The file gets huge, but some people think it's easier to open only a single file when post-processing. In such a case, people might choose a very large value for frames_per_outfile, just to make sure that all output times go into the single file.. Others, like me, choose to have a single output time per output file (frames_per_outfile = 1)</div>
<div style><br></div><div style>You can see a sample namelist.input and resulting output files at</div><div style><br></div><div style><a href="http://weather.arsc.edu/Operational/HRRR-AK/Products/wrfout/2013070200/">http://weather.arsc.edu/Operational/HRRR-AK/Products/wrfout/2013070200/</a><br>
</div><div style><br></div><div style><br></div><div style>I set history_interval to 60 minutes, and frames per outfile to 1.</div><div style><br></div><div style><br></div><div style>If I wanted all of my output in a single file, like</div>
<div style><br></div><div style>wrfout_d01_2013-07-02_00:00:00</div><div style><br></div><div style>then history_interval would still be 60 minutes, but I would set frames per outfile to AT LEAST 49, for a 48 hour forecast, or maybe just set it to 100000 and never worry about whether it's big enough. Again, though, you may end up with a huge file, and I, personally, prefer working with a single file per output time.</div>
