Dear WRF Users:

I am attempting to run WRF-ARW v3.1 using the ECMWF T511 Nature Run for ICs and LBCs. (Information on this dataset is available at http://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/research/JointOSSEs/data/). Unfortunately ungrib.exe fails with this error message:

Originating center is 98
Grid ID is 255 Only WAFS grids 37-44 are supported
***** STOP in Subroutine RD_GRIB1.

Based on the source code, ungrib.exe thinks this is a "thinned" WAFS grid (it uses nx=65535 as the criteria), and it clearly isn't. I don't believe anything is wrong with the GRIB data, as I can process it with PyNGL. So this looks like a bug in ungrib.exe.

Does anyone have a solution?
