<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial color=#000000 size=2>Hello,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>The case I run is the JAN 2000 case (<A href="http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/CASES/JAN00/index.html">http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/CASES/JAN00/index.html</A>) and </FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>dx=dy=30000 and time_step = 180 (which are the setting used in the tutorial). </FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>When I run using parallel mode (using mpi), I can only use certain number of processors (say 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 15) but definitely can't use 10 or 16 processors. When I use 10 or 16 processors, there are some errors like </FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT size=2>WOULD GO OFF TOP: KF_ETA_PARA I,J,DPTHMX,DPMIN 6 9 NaN<BR>5000.000<BR>WOULD GO OFF TOP: KF_ETA_PARA I,J,DPTHMX,DPMIN 7 10 NaN<BR>5000.000</FONT><BR></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr>appear and the calculation will exit. </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr>When I run another case (Hurricane Katrina Single Domain, <A href="http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/CASES/SingleDomain/index.html">http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/CASES/SingleDomain/index.html</A> ), I can only use another sets of number of processors (say, 8, 16), but can't use 24 processors. </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr>So I am puzzled. What's wrong with my calculation or what's wrong with those cases? How can I decide how many processors to use to avoid such kind of error for each specific case? </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr>Best regards,</DIV>
