I've run WRF at home for the last 10 years on anything from a single core laptop to a mini cluster of 20 cores.
Any machine will work, invest in as much memory as will fit and if using multi cores leave 1 free, your run will be faster.
I've used AMD cores at home as they are cheaper.

Subject: [Wrf-users] What computer workstation to use for WRF

Dear WRF users,

I would like to run WRF at home for my own research purposes using computer workstation (HP, DELL or SONY).

I'm sure there is an experience among us to run WRF at workstation with 2 or more cores.

I would like to ask to share your experience with me, which computer workstations are most

appropriate to install and to run WRF regarding an interface and a price of workstation.

Thanks in advance,

Dr Mikhail Titov (New Zealand)
