Dear WRF-users,

Below is a position available for a WRF modeller to work in the Climate
Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, Sydney,
Australia. Please forward to anyone you think may be interested.

Cheers,

        Postdoctoral Research Associate

Climate Change Research Centre
*REF. 8919NET*

Salary Level A: A$77K - A$82K or Salary Level B: A$86K - A$102K pa (plus
17% superannuation plus leave loading).
The Climate Change Research Centre seeks a suitably qualified research
associate to provide research support to the project LP120200777 "Will
East coast lows change in frequency or intensity in the future?" This is
a linkage project funded by the Australian Research Council and NSW
Office of Environment and Heritage, and is led by Dr Jason Evans along
with Dr Lisa Alexander and Prof. Steven Sherwood.
UNSW Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC) is a multi-disciplinary
research group comprising the largest university research facilities of
its kind in Australia. CCRC houses research expertise in the three key
areas of climate science: atmosphere processes, ocean processes and
terrestrial processes. To these, we apply our strengths in climate
dynamics, global climate change and extremes of weather and climate.
The successful applicant will hold aPhD or equivalent qualification in a
relevant field, a research track record in one or more of the following
areas: atmospheric modelling, coupled climate modelling, regional
climate modelling (in particular WRF), climate variability/change.
However, an individual with a PhD in quantitative applied mathematics or
physics would likely be very competitive without explicit experience in
regional climate modelling. Applicants should also be able to
demonstrate programming skills in a Unix/Linux environment (e.g. Fortran
9X, shell scripts, NCL, R, Matlab) as well as possessing excellent
written and oral communication skills.
This is a full timefixed term position for two years, with possibility
of renewal for up to a further 12 months. This appointment will be made
at either level A or level B depending on the successful candidate's
experience and research track record.
Applicants should address the selection criteria found within the
position description, in their online application.
