*Climate Modeling Post**-Doctoral**/Research Scientist Positions*

The Center for Environmental Fluid Dynamics (EFD) at Arizona State
University (ASU) has full-time vacancies for outstanding Post‐Doctoral/Research
Scientist positions to address questions involving multi‐scale climate modeling
of atmospheric flows.

*Particular topics of interest include:*

*1.** * Multi‐Scale Modeling of Urban Atmospheres in a
Changing Climate: The research will consider both the downscale influence
of large‐scale atmospheric conditions on urban-scale weather and climate,
and the upscale influence of cities on surrounding regions.

*2.* Assessing Climatic Impacts associated with Biomass
Energy Expansion: The research will quantify climatic impacts resulting
from large-scale deployment of biomass energy expansion by modifying
existing land-surface models to address global challenges concerning the
energy/water/climate nexus.

The successful candidate(s) will join a transdisciplinary team of researchers
jointly collaborating within ASU’s Global Institute of Sustainability. A
portion of the work will likely require periodic visits to the Mesoscale
and Microscale Meteorology Division at the National Center for Atmospheric
Research (NCAR).

*Requirements: *

· Demonstrated experience with land-surface/atmospheric numerical
codes (those with expertise using the Weather Research and Forecasting
(WRF) model, the principal tool of investigation, are encouraged to apply).

· Familiarity in handling and dealing with large data sets of
various formats.

· Programming skills (e.g., Fortran) and proficiency in visualizing
model output (e.g., GrADS, Matlab) for production of scholarly manuscripts
in peer-reviewed journals.

· Ph.D. in atmospheric science, hydrology,
computational/mathematical geosciences, or related fields.

For full consideration, please submit applications by April 30, 2012. These
positions are available for up to 3 years, subject to annual performance
review. Salary is commensurable with experience. An attractive benefits
package is also offered. Starting date(s) is(are) flexible but not later
than September 1st, 2012.

ASU is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and encourages and
supports diversity among applicants and employees.

*To Apply:* Please send curriculum vitae, a brief description of research
interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent
electronically to:
