Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite researchers/academics working at the interface
of computer and environmental sciences to a session on
"Applications of emerging computational and informational technology
to Climate Sciences", which is to be held as part of
Joint Assembly of Asia Oceanic Geophysical Society
and American Geophysical Union
at Santosa Island, Singapore (13-17 Aug 2012).

Recent years have witnessed the birth of several new and interesting
technologies and concepts, including multicore and gpu computing,
cloud computing and the Internet of Things. New and easier means
of web mapping has resulted in dramatically improved ways to deliver climate
and environmental information to the public. Machine learning, especially
artificial intelligence has been applied to develop innovative and
computationally
efficient parameterizations of physical processes in climate models. Further,
development of networks of low-power wireless smart sensors have led to
powerful ways of collecting and acting upon environmental variations
and change.

We invite oral or postal presentations on a wide range of topics that
utilize computational and informational sciences, including

a) software

       - Machine learning for classification/prediction problems
       - Self Organizing Maps
       - Adaptive parameterizations
       - Software reuse in climate/weather models
       - Software frameworks for environmental/climate/weather modeling
       - Cloud Computing

b) hardware and modeling

       - multi-core computing
       - GPGPU
       - CUDA
       - OpenCL
      - FPGA

c) data acquisition/management

      - sensor networks
      - Web mapping
      - web based data distribution, analysis and visualisation
      - Unmanned/ Robotic platforms for data collection

We have put up an editable wiki at http://lanyrd.com/cgfmz.
You are welcome to edit and add to the information using your Twitter
credentials.
