[Wrf-users] UPP (Unified Post Processor) PRATE values all zero

Hi all. . .

So, after searching online, I've seen that other people have had this
problem, but I haven't seen a solution. Maybe somebody here can help.

I'm using UPP to postprocess the wrfout's (translate to GRIB), and for
the most part it's fine. The one issue I'm having is that PRATE
(precipitation rate) in the grib files is always zero, everywhere. This
is just a UPP/postprocessing issue - we're getting plenty of
precipitation.

When unipost.exe is running, I do get occasional error messages, which I
suppose might have to do with fields that are not being output in the
wrfout's. I don't know if I'm missing some field that's required for
PRATE, or even what fields are required for PRATE. The unipost code is
not super easy to decipher.

I believe I can probably get around to the answer I want by differencing
the accumulated precipitation fields, but it would take some extra
effort which I'd just as soon avoid if possible.

Any thoughts? Thanks,

Mike
